Daniel Bligh is a celebrated artist who has spent decades living alone in a remote Cornish cottage. Once tipped for greatness, his career has faded into obscurity, though he has continued to paint.
When Daniel breaks his leg, his estranged sons Eddie and Alfie reluctantly return home to care for him. Their reunion is marked by the same silence that has defined their relationship with their father for years. Daniel cannot say what he feels, and neither can his sons.
When Alfie becomes convinced that Daniel is hiding something behind the locked door of the middle room, his curiosity becomes obsession. What they discover forces the brothers to reconsider their understanding of their father, the value of the work he has created, and the uncomfortable possibility that love can exist in forms we don't know how to recognise.
